Key terms, defined plainly. Part of the Andrew Hillman, Community resources.

Capital Campaign: A focused fundraising effort to finance a specific institutional project, such as a school building or lab.
Donor Recognition: Public acknowledgement of a gift, such as a named room or a published donor roll.
Innovation Lab: A dedicated space for robotics and STEM learning. The Lamplighter School Innovation Lab is the subject of a published case study.
Scholarship: A merit award supporting a student. The Andrew Hillman Scholarship for Entrepreneurs is in development.
Grant: A funded award supporting study or research. The Andrew Hillman Grant for Biotech is in development.
STEM: Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
Endowment: A donated fund invested so that the principal is preserved and the returns support a purpose over time.
Hillman Family Room: The Hillman Family Room at The Lamplighter School, established by a $300,000 gift in 2018. The gift is one component of more than $500,000 in cumulative gifts to the school.
